Field Trips

Elementary & ESE Field Trips

Do you have an elementary class or a middle school/high school ESE class? We offer a wonderful, hands-on educational experience in partnership with the Palmetto Historical Park that is FREE OF CHARGE to local schools. While on site, students learn what agriculture is and how it touches their lives. And you can get two field trips in one visit!

They learn about agriculture and about Palmetto’s history. For traditional classes, these visits are approximately 2-1/2  hours long. While visiting with us, students might make butter, lasso bulls, paint with fruits and veggies, go on a scavenger hunt, or learn about what it was like to live and attend school in the early 1900s. Each grade level is tailor-made with age and grade-appropriate activities. Students have such a great time that they don’t even realize they are learning! Curriculum units which are enhanced by a field trip to the Ag Museum and Palmetto Historical Park include farms, plants, American history, Florida history, family living, nutrition, and economics.

Programming dates fill up fast. Scheduling begins on the first day that teachers return to school in the fall.

For ESE classes, the programming is primarily focused on agriculture with a stop in the historic Heritage Station Post Office to pick up some mail. The ESE field trip is approximately 2 hours long.

Because most field trip activities are outdoors, in the event of inclement weather the trip will need to be rescheduled if a date is available. You will receive a phone call the morning of the trip should cancellation occur.

Give us a call at 941-721-2034 to book.

Pre-K Field Trips: SUPER SPROUTS

Super Sprouts is a Pre-K program that allows young children to learn about gardens, farms, crops, livestock, and to explore "what's before the grocery store." Maximum class size for Super Sprouts is 14 students. This field trip is approximately 1-1/2 hours long.

Because most field trip activities are outdoors, in the event of inclement weather the trip will need to be rescheduled if a date is available. You will receive a phone call the morning of the trip should cancellation occur.
